Job summary

The Josef Group in Springfield, VA is seeking an experienced Software Engineer to design, develop, deploy, and maintain enterprise DoD software systems. This role requires hands-on coding, strong problem-solving, and collaboration with cross-functional teams.

You will work in a DevSecOps environment using GitLab and Jira, deploy containerized apps with Kubernetes/OpenShift, and script in Bash and Python on Linux. Agile practices and thorough documentation are expected.

Qualifications

BS degree in CS, Engineering, or related STEM field.
4–6+ years of professional software engineering experience.
Experience with enterprise DoD-style software.
Experience in DevSecOps with GitLab and Jira.
Hands-on with Kubernetes or OpenShift.
Proficient in Linux command-line and Python.
Experience with Agile development.
Ability to create software architecture and data-flow diagrams.

Responsibilities

Support design, development, deployment, and maintenance of enterprise software for DoD missions.
Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams.
Design scalable, reliable, secure software architectures.
Support DevSecOps processes using GitLab and Jira.
Deploy and maintain containerized apps with Kubernetes/OpenShift.
Work in Linux environments; use Bash and Python scripting.
Create system architecture and data-flow diagrams; document.
Participate in Agile sprint planning, reviews, and continuous improvement.
