Job summary

Sigma Defense Systems is seeking a Software Engineer in Norfolk, VA for a hybrid role that supports both remote work and on-site mission requirements. You will contribute to full-lifecycle software development, testing, integration, and deployment for complex, mission-critical systems.

Responsibilities include leading Agile planning, architecture modeling (DoDAF/MBSE), and DevSecOps pipeline execution while coordinating with cybersecurity teams and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Engineering or Mathematics.
• Master's degree preferred.
• DoD 8570 / DoD 8140 compliance (Level II or III) is required.

Responsibilities

• Lead Agile-based planning, execution, and delivery activities including PI Planning, sprint planning, daily scrums, and system demos.
• Coordinate with Product Owners, Scrum Masters, and engineering teams to refine requirements and ensure user stories meet acceptance criteria.
• Provide technical leadership across software projects, ensuring alignment with architecture and program objectives.
• Develop and maintain DoDAF-compliant architecture views and MBSE models to support system design and traceability.
• Guide architecture development including microservices design, RESTful APIs, containerization, and cloud strategies.
• Support RMF compliance, accreditation documentation, and cybersecurity collaboration during development.
