Job summary

KBR, Inc. seeks a Modernization Project Engineer (Contingency) to support TACOM (WVA) modernization initiatives.

The role focuses on planning, coordinating, and executing engineering activities for system upgrades, ensuring design integrity and meeting cost, schedule, and performance objectives. This contingency position requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering and typically 4–7 years of related experience; duties include collaboration with engineers, technicians, and leadership, with travel

Qualifications

• Requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering and 4–7 years of related experience.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical manuals.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to obtain or maintain U.S. Government security clearance (as required).
• U.S. citizenship required.

Responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate engineering efforts related to system modernization and upgrade projects
• Analyze existing systems and recommend modernization improvements
• Develop project plans, schedules, and technical documentation for modernization efforts
• Ensure engineering activities meet cost, schedule, and performance objectives
• Coordinate with engineers, technicians, and program leadership to execute project requirements
• Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical manuals
• Support testing, validation, and verification of upgraded or modified systems
• Identify technical risks and develop mitigation strategies
• Ensure compliance with Army Technical Manuals (TMs), engineering standards, and quality requirements
• Support configuration management and change control processes
• Prepare technical reports, briefings, and status updates for stakeholders
• Participate in design reviews, project meetings, and technical evaluations
• Support audits, inspections, and government reviews as required
