Job summary

Apex Systems is seeking a DevSecOps Engineer to design and operate a secure, scalable DevSecOps framework for containerized apps in a Kubernetes environment. Remote-focused with occasional onsite in Radford, VA, candidate must meet DoD security clearance requirements.

The role emphasizes automating infrastructure, embedding security into CI/CD pipelines, and collaborating with developers and cybersecurity teams to ensure compliance and operational excellence.

Qualifications

• Must have DoD Secret level security clearance.
• Hands-on experience implementing and managing DevSecOps frameworks in a cloud or enterprise environment.
• Proficient with CI/CD tooling such as GitLab, Azure DevOps, or Atlassian toolchains.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools: Terraform and Ansible.
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Comfortable working in environments with strong security and compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines integrating development, security, and operations.
• Automate infrastructure and application delivery using Terraform and Ansible.
• Containerize legacy apps and migrate to Kubernetes-based platforms (OpenShift or similar).
• Embed security controls in pipelines (SAST/DAST, image scanning, config checks).
• Implement secrets management to protect data across pipelines and runtime envs.
• Monitor pipeline health, app performance, and security posture using observability tools.
• Collaborate with developers, platform engineers, and cybersecurity teams to meet security/compliance standards.
• Provide guidance, documentation, and hands-on support to teams adopting DevSecOps best practices.
