Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in English or 2+ years editorial/writing experience
• Effective communication in writing and speech; ability to work with little supervision
• Strong customer service for government leadership, SMEs, and stakeholders
• Strong analytical skills
• Coordinate with multiple offices within ESD and WHS
• Proficiency in MS Office and Adobe Acrobat
• Experience with SharePoint, HPE Records Management, Tableau Desktop
• Detail-oriented under high pressure handling sensitive/classified information

Responsibilities

• Complete an extensive three-week training period on day one
• Review, analyze, and edit DoD policy documents for clarity and compliance
• Perform full editorial duties on DoD issuances: grammar, syntax, Plain Language
• Ensure formatting adherence to DoD standards across packages
• Coordinate with SMEs to move issuances through review and publication
• Work with government personnel to resolve issues in the review process
• Edit drafts and create publication instructions for authors/contractors
• Send edits and instructions for revisions; enforce quality control
• Maintain accurate records through all editing stages
• Verify redactions and exemptions for proper protection of classified info
• Update guidelines, SOPs, and trainings
• Track policy documents through all stages in the database
• Verify notations and security markings align with instructions
• Suggest process improvements for publication and tracking systems
• Prepare input for issuance status reports
• Adhere to security requirements in classified spaces
• Assist with updating internal and external guidance
• Analyze documents for classification level and markings
• Recognize possible nuclear weapons/intelligence info
• Lead special projects and training for DoD Issuance Program
• Use classified network to review issuance packages with action officers
• Maintain training for handling classified information
• Handle CUI on the unclassified network appropriately
