Job summary

Village builds software that turns investors’ research questions into continuously running data applications. You’ll own how customers, developers, and our team understand the platform, the software we build, and the research it produces.

You’ll work closely with engineers and customers to turn code, data workflows, analytical methods, and product behavior into useful documentation. You’ll also write the structured instructions — internally called agent skills — that teach our AI developer

Qualifications

• Excellent technical writing and editing skills with samples that explain complex software or data workflows.
• Ability to read code and specifications to understand software behavior and data flows.
• Strong information-organization and content-design judgment.
• Comfort working across changing products and early-stage projects.
• Curiosity about AI agents and how structured documentation improves reliability.
• Nice to have: docs-as-code, version control familiarity.
• Experience creating instructions for AI agents.

Responsibilities

• Plan, write, edit, and maintain end-user documentation for Village platform and customer applications.
• Explain what customer-facing software does and how its components, data models, data flows, integrations, configuration, and behavior work.
• Translate source code, technical specs, and engineering input into material readable by technical and non-technical readers.
• Create and maintain agent skills: instructions that teach Village’s AI developer agents how and when to use tools, inputs, outputs, workflows, examples, constraints, failure modes, troubleshooting.
• Write clear explanations of customer research and data analysis: questions, data sources, methodology, transformations, assumptions, findings.
• Build and evolve our documentation system: information architecture, style guide, templates, editorial standards, update processes, quality criteria.
• Create diagrams, annotated screenshots, tables, and data visualizations to aid understanding.
