Job summary

Oregon Cherry Growers, LLC in Salem seeks a Document Control Specialist to manage technical documents, certifications, and labeling reviews for regulatory compliance. The role supports Technical Services and R&D with a focus on accuracy and traceability.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science or related science field preferred.
  • 1–2 years technical document control experience in the food industry; electronic doc/change management experience desired.
  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills with ability to write technical docs.
  • Excellent organization and time management; capable of multi-project workloads.
  • Proficient MS Office; experience with MS Access and Smartsheet is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Review and approve labels for regulatory compliance and accuracy.

  • Develop and maintain nutritional databases and document templates.
  • Ensure compliance with customer requirements and SDS coordination.
  • Assist with product development, R&D, and QA projects.

Summary

Independently fulfills customer inquiries, technical document requests, and information surveys from internal and external customers. Responsible for developing and maintaining product specifications, researching regulatory information, label review and approval, and certification documentation.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Fulfill customer technical requests through completion of questionnaires and surveys
  • Create and maintain technical response documents including certifications, nutritional labeling, and regulatory compliance statements
  • Maintain technical specifications for internal use
  • Maintain product sales specifications
  • Review and approve labels for regulatory compliance and technical accuracy
  • Review, approve, and facilitate change orders for new supplies
  • Manage customer portals (iCiX, FSEnet, Sysco Supplier Partner, Trace Gains, etc.)
  • Manage value-added program certifications (Non-GMO Project, Fair Trade, Kosher, Halal)
  • Review and approve supplier documents
  • Research domestic and foreign food composition and labeling regulations
  • Develop and maintain nutritional database for nutritional labeling
  • Develop, review, and improve technical document templates
  • Ensure compliance with customer requirements
  • Review and coordinate SDS documents for food safety approval of new products entering the facilities

Food Safety Responsibilities
  • Oregon Cherry Growers, LLC is a food processing facility and it is the responsibility of every employee to perform all job duties and other activities in a manner that upholds the safety and quality of the facilities and products produced. In addition, it is the responsibility of each employee to report all food safety issues or concerns to Management.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science or related science field preferred.
  • Desire 1-2 years technical document control experience in the food industry; electronic document and/or change order management system experience highly desired.
  • Demonstrated effective written, verbal and interpersonal skills; ability to write technical documents.
  • Demonstrated skills in organization and time management.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects concurrently, prioritize projects effectively to meet deadlines, work independently and with teams from multiple functional areas.
  • Strong computer skills in MS Office: Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook. Experience with MS Access and Smartsheet desired.
Physical Requirements

Frequent physical activity includes walking, sitting, standing, gripping with hands and fingers, using a keyboard, finger dexterity, hearing, speaking, close vision, and color identification. Moderate physical activity includes bending, stooping, lifting and carrying up to 25 pounds, reaching, touching, and climbing stairs.
