Job summary

Karman Space and Defense is seeking a Document Control Clerk in Huntington Beach, CA. This full-time clerical role supports the Engineering team by organizing, maintaining, and controlling documentation to ensure access to current drawings, specifications, and released information.

Responsibilities include file organization, version control, audits, and support for engineering projects. A DoD Secret clearance or ability to obtain one is required; high school diploma and strong organizational

Responsibilities

• Assemble latest released versions into designated folders.
• Maintain folder structure, naming conventions, and control practices.
• Identify missing/duplicate/incorrect documents and raise issues.
• Remove obsolete documents from released-information folders.
• Update the document index to reflect revisions.
• Conduct routine folder audits for completeness.
• Scan, copy, and file documents to preserve records.
• Support Engineering with administrative tasks and projects.

As a Document Control Clerk, you support the Engineering team by organizing, maintaining, and controlling documentation to ensure engineering information is accurate, accessible, and up to date. Your work helps streamline document flow, reduce errors, and support program execution by ensuring teams have reliable access to current drawings, specifications, and released information.

Responsibilities:

• Organize and maintain engineering drawings, specifications, and documents within established folder structures.
• Review documents for accuracy and ensure correct versions are properly filed.
• Compile the latest released document versions into designated folders.
• Maintain consistent folder organization, naming conventions, and document control practices.
• Identify missing, duplicate, incorrect, or conflicting documents and communicate issues for resolution.
• Remove obsolete documents from released-information folders.
• Update and maintain the document index to reflect current revisions.
• Perform routine folder audits to confirm required documents are present and properly organized.
• Scan, copy, and file documents to maintain accurate records.
• Support Engineering with administrative tasks and assigned projects.

Required Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent education.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to manage a large volume of documents while maintaining accuracy.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Basic problem‑solving skills with the ability to identify and elevate issues.
• Ability to work independently while knowing when to seek guidance.
• Professionalism and ability to handle company information appropriately.
• A current U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance or the ability to obtain and maintain one.

Preferred Qualifications

• 1–3 years of clerical, document control, records management, or similar experience.
• Experience with file systems, shared network drives, or document repositories.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office; Microsoft O365/Teams experience.
• Experience with Adobe Acrobat or similar PDF software.
