Job summary

Old Dominion Freight Line is seeking a Dock Supervisor to oversee daily operations, safety, and efficiency within our freight network. This role manages shifts, staffing, and adherence to safety and quality standards, communicating with associates and customers continuously using OD’s technology systems.

Responsibilities include supervising dock employees, scheduling, and providing actionable insights to improve operations.

Qualifications

• 2 years working operations experience preferably in the transportation industry.
• Supervisory experience preferred.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of general DOT regulations.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and evaluate the safety of each employee on a daily basis.
• Monitor and evaluate the safe and efficient loading and unloading process of freight throughout the shift.
• Teach employees safe lifting techniques and ensure safe lifting practices.
• Maintain housekeeping within the shift to ensure safety and productivity.
• Manage dock employees and schedules to meet OD and customer expectations.
• Collaborate with Operations Manager to align daily/weekly/monthly objectives.
• Provide analyses and ideas for improving operations within the shift and facility.
• Give constructive feedback on performance metrics and conduct disciplinary actions as needed.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, federal, OSHA and DOT safety regulations.
