Job summary

Old Dominion Freight Line in Chicago, IL, is seeking a Dock Supervisor to oversee daily operations, ensure safety, and drive efficiency across the shift. You will manage dock teams, monitor loading and unloading, and ensure compliance with DOT and OSHA standards while leveraging OD’s technology systems.

The role calls for hands-on leadership, strong communication, and the ability to balance productivity with safety.

Qualifications

• High School degree or equivalent; some college preferred.
• 2 years of operations experience in transportation.
• Supervisory experience preferred.
• Knowledge of AS400, Microsoft Office, DYMS and BLU systems.
• Knowledge of DOT regulations.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Monitor safety of each employee daily.
• Supervise dock personnel and shift scheduling.
• Ensure safe loading/unloading and housekeeping.
• Operate OD technology systems to monitor shipments.
• Conduct daily shift meetings and provide feedback.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA and DOT regulations.
• Maintain alignment with Operations Manager and goals.
• Inspect equipment and tool conditions and safety practices.
