FedEx Freight is seeking a dockworker to transport freight between docks and trailers in Forest View, IL. The role involves operating forklifts and manual equipment, verifying paperwork, and securing loads for safe transport.

The position requires basic math, good communication, and the ability to lift heavy items. Teamwork and independence are valued, with a focus on safety and efficiency in a fast-paced, dockside environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Prior warehousing, freight handling and/or forklift operations experience preferred.
• Hostler/yard mule duties experience preferred.
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lift/carry hand freight and heavy weights several times per day.
• Ability to bend, twist, squat, and push/pull freight throughout shift.
• Ability to work independently and/or as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Transport freight across dock area to/from trailers for loading to trailers.
• Perform freight handling using forklift, pallet jack and hand truck.
• Verify documentation matches freight description using current system.
• Secure freight inside trailers using pallets, straps, rope or other supplies.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight when necessary.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
• Assist customers with freight and freight documentation as needed.
• Perform hostling duties if required.
• Comply with all laws, regulations and company policies.
• Perform other duties as required.
