Job summary

FedEx Freight is seeking a dock worker to transport freight across the dock area to and from trailers, facilitating loading to trailers and securing shipments with standard equipment.

This role requires basic math, the ability to lift up to 100 pounds in some cases, and a reliable, team-oriented approach in a fast-paced environment. Shifts run 0300-0900 and 1500-2100, with hours varying by operational needs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required or preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Experience in warehousing or freight handling preferred.
• Hostler/yard mule duties experience preferred.
• Ability to perform basic math and count.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lift/carry freight and operate dock equipment.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Previous dock/warehouse experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Transport freight across dock area to/from trailers for loading to trailers.
• Operate or assist with forklift, pallet jack, and hand truck as needed.
• Verify freight documentation matches description.
• Secure freight inside trailers using pallets, straps, or rope.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight when necessary.
• Complete required documentation and reports.
• Assist customers with freight and freight documentation as needed.
• Perform hostling duties if required.
• Comply with laws, regulations, and company procedures.
• Perform other duties as required.
