Job summary

Roadrunner is seeking an Operations Supervisor to lead daily dock, freight, and terminal activities within our Philadelphia service center. You will translate network strategy into hands-on execution, protecting shipment integrity and optimizing linehaul and local delivery performance.

This role requires supervising frontline teams, enforcing safety standards, and managing costs to drive terminal profitability while maintaining high service levels.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or 1–2 years of relevant operations or logistics experience.
• Experience in transportation, LTL, warehouse, or service center operations preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to supervise, train, and evaluate team members.
• Safety, compliance standards, and hazardous materials handling knowledge (Hazmat cert preferred).
• Forklift certification (or ability to obtain) for on-site operations.
• Strong analytical and mathematical skills to interpret data.
• Proficiency in PC applications; AS/400 experience preferred.
• Effective written and verbal communication across all levels of the organization.
• Ability to prioritize, delegate, and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong problem-solving capability in variable conditions.

Responsibilities

• Execute dock and terminal operations with precision.
• Oversee daily dock operations including load planning, freight handling, and linehaul coordination.
• Ensure freight is processed accurately with routing, documentation, and data entry.
• Maintain high load quality, minimize damages, OS&D incidents, and rehanding.
• Step into forklift and operational roles when needed to maintain continuity.
• Optimize service center performance and control costs.
• Monitor daily operating costs and identify efficiency improvements.
• Support budget attainment through labor utilization and workflow management.
• Ensure billing, rating, payroll, and admin processes are completed accurately.
• Drive safety, compliance, and risk management across the site.
• Maintain a safe, DOT-OSHA compliant work environment and hazardous materials standards.
• Support contractor compliance and equipment standards.
• Enforce freight security protocols and regulatory adherence.
• Lead and develop frontline teams with clear accountability.
• Provide real-time feedback and performance development.
