Job summary

Roadrunner Freight in Charlotte, NC seeks a Freight Handler Lead to supervise daily dock activities, ensuring loads are moved, staged, and secured for transit with minimal rehandling. You will own shift priorities, enforce safety standards, and drive improvements in throughput and quality.

Lead a small team, coach on safe forklift and hazmat handling, and monitor metrics to reduce damage and cycle times while maintaining a strong safety culture.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; 1–3 months related experience preferred.
• Prior supervisory or lead experience is a plus.
• Ability to read work orders and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced dock.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily dock activities to move, stage, and secure loads for transit with minimal rehandling.
• Enforce safety standards and correct unsafe practices; prevent incidents.
• Standardize dock workflows and checklists to reduce touches and cycle time.
• Coach freight handlers on safe techniques and cross-functional expectations.
• Track key metrics and coordinate with teams to align dock throughput with schedules.
