Old Dominion Freight Line is seeking a dedicated dockworker to load and unload freight safely, using forklifts and manual methods. You will help ensure accurate placement on trucks and maintain secure handling throughout the service center.

The role emphasizes adherence to DOT guidelines, proper use of pallet jacks, and proactive safety practices for reliable deliveries across OD’s network.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Knowledge of safe lifting and freight procedures.
• Familiarity with freight forms (bills, manifests, shipping orders).
• Experience with dockyard management and shipment monitoring.
• Ability to operate a forklift and pallet jack.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload freight on trailers using forklifts or manually per DOT.
• Transport freight within service center on various surfaces.
• Monitor shipment locations with the Dock Yard Management System.
• Read shipping labels and complete freight movement forms.
• Secure freight inside trailers with straps and airbags.
• Ensure correct items go onto the right trucks.
• Maintain safety and meet schedules.
