Job summary

The State of Alaska’s DMV Bethel office is seeking a Motor Vehicle Customer Service Representative to help issue identification documents, titles, and registrations. You will conduct non-commercial, commercial, and motorcycle road tests while explaining applicable policies and regulations to customers.

You will also handle online processing and respond to questions by phone, collaborating with a network of rural team members.

Qualifications

• Six months of experience licensing, titling, and registering motor vehicles, maintaining driver records, collecting motor vehicle registration taxes, and processing license actions required by traffic laws, financial responsibility and mandatory insurance laws, and judicial suspensions or revocations.
• Alternative: six months as a driving instructor or one year of advanced clerical work with public interactions and knowledge of regulations.
• Postsecondary education may substitute for the required experience.

Responsibilities

• Examine documentation to issue identification documents, titles, and registrations with attention to detail and problem-solving.
• Conduct non-commercial, commercial, and motorcycle road tests and explain policies, statutes, and regulations to the public.
• Some online processing and answering public questions by phone; collaborate with rural team members and office staff.
