Job summary

Reliable Medical is seeking an Prior Authorization Specialist to ensure patients gain timely access to home medical equipment. You will review documentation, prepare pre-authorization requests, and communicate with insurers to secure approvals while navigating billing codes and provider requirements.

You will work with a fast-paced team to streamline the authorization process, manage appeals for denials, and coordinate with sales, billing, and clinical staff to support patient care.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Prior office experience required.
• Experience with Prior Authorization and/or Durable Medical Equipment (DME) preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, SharePoint).
• Excellent verbal and written communication and strong interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Review medical documentation and prepare pre-authorization requests for home medical equipment.
• Follow up with insurance providers to obtain timely approvals and manage denials.
• Initiate and manage appeals for denied authorizations.
• Utilize multiple submission methods (fax, phone, email, portals).
• Learn HCPC billing codes and clinical terminology for accurate processing.
• Collaborate with departments to ensure timely equipment access for patients.
