Job summary

The North Carolina Department of Adult Correction is seeking a Business Officer I to provide employee relations oversight, financial management, and administrative support for division operations. You will supervise one Administrative Officer and back up disciplinary reviews, while ensuring regulatory compliance and efficient operations.

Qualifications

• Experience coordinating employee relations matters, including disciplinary actions or investigations.
• Ability to prepare reports or correspondence involving confidential personnel matters.
• Experience monitoring budgets or reviewing purchasing activity for compliance.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate division-level disciplinary investigations and maintain case records.
• Supervise the Administrative Officer’s disciplinary reviews and weekly summaries.
• Monitor ILWP, vehicle misuse, and CDL compliance for institutional staff.
• Process employee tort claims and conduct references or history checks as requested.
• Review procurement activity and monitor operating budgets for policy compliance.
• Coordinate with ACA contract monitoring and timely vendor payments.
