Job summary

The Salvation Army in Omaha seeks a Divisional Executive Director of Development to lead all resource development, donor relations, and external communications for the Western Division.

This senior role reports to the Divisional Commander and serves on the Divisional Finance Board, guiding major gifts, planned giving, and campaigns across the division. Travel within the division is required as part of donor engagement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business, communications, marketing, or related field.
• Five to eight years of progressive senior-level development experience with fundraising success.
• Proven track record in major gifts, planned giving, capital campaigns, and donor relations.
• Experience in budgeting, revenue forecasting, cost analysis, and financial management.
• CFRE, CAP, or similar professional designation within one year of employment.
• Background in large nonprofit organizations preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a voting member of the Divisional Finance Board and act as the primary advisor on fundraising, marketing, and external communications.
• Lead all divisional fund development, public relations, communications, marketing, donor relations, volunteer services, and fundraising activities.
• Develop and implement short- and long-term strategic plans for resource development, ensuring integrated execution across all development disciplines.
• Oversee creation, planning, and implementation of special events, donor cultivation activities, recognition programs, and public awareness initiatives.
