Job summary

Fayette County Public Schools is seeking a Districtwide Special Education Paraeducator for Southern Elementary School in Lexington, KY. This 1.0 FTE, hourly position supports certified staff, maintains a safe learning environment, and assists with health-related procedures as part of the school team.

The successful candidate will work with students with special needs, follow IEPs, and help prepare materials while collaborating with teachers and other professionals.

Qualifications

• Minimum 48 college credit hours or successful completion of the Kentucky Paraeducator Assessment or completion of an Associate's Degree.
• Experience working with youth in organized settings and with children with special needs.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and assist with health-related procedures as needed.

Responsibilities

• Assist certified teachers in implementing instructional practices and maintaining a safe, inclusive classroom environment.
• Support students in academic, behavioral, and health-related tasks under teacher direction.
• Maintain student data and records in line with district policies and regulatory requirements.
• Prepare instructional materials, set up work areas, and operate classroom equipment as required.
• Monitor student progress and assist in implementing individual education plans (IEPs).
