District Webmaster

The CHCCS District Webmaster provides centralized governance of all district and school-based websites. Responsibilities include content management, ADA compliance, information architecture, user‑experience optimization, security oversight, analytics tracking, and ensuring timely and accurate updates across all pages. The role strengthens transparency, improves public access to information, and ensures consistent messaging across the district.

Builds and maintains district and school-based websites that are user-friendly, professional in appearance, up‑to‑date, accessible, and effectively serve the communication, marketing, and operational needs of staff, students, families, and the general public. Requires technical expertise, strong written and verbal communication skills, customer service orientation, and a commitment to supporting the district's educational mission.

Essential Duties
  • Website Management and Operations
    • Design and Development
      • Using the CMS (Finalsite) design and implement a user-friendly, visually appealing, and intuitive structure for the main district site and school-based sites.
      • Manage and configure the CMS, including user accounts, roles, permissions and security settings.
    • Maintenance and Integrity
      • Ensure website uptime, performance, security, and integration with other district systems.
      • Perform regular site backups, updates, and maintenance checks.
      • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to websites and their associated services.
    • Compliance and Accessibility
      • Ensure all content and functionality comply with WCAG 2.1 AA standards and other legal requirements (FERPA, COPPA, etc.).
      • Use proper alt text, ARIA roles, keyboard navigation, and color contrast.
  • Content and Communication
    • Content Governance
      • Establish and enforce district-wide content policies, brand/style guides, and approval workflows.
      • Train staff in content creation, editing, and timely publishing within the CMS.
      • Coordinate translation of key content as needed.
    • Information Architecture
      • Review and reorganize menus and pages to ensure critical information is easily located.
    • Analytics and Reporting
      • Monitor usage with analytics tools, track traffic, content, and user behavior.
      • Provide regular reports on performance and engagement to district leadership.
  • Training and Support
    • Develop and deliver training sessions and documentation for school staff on using the CMS.
    • Serve as the primary technical resource for all website-related questions and support requests.
Education and Experience Requirements
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree, or certification in web development, digital media, graphic design, communications, or related field.
  • 3+ years of professional experience managing, developing, and maintaining large‑scale websites, preferably in an educational or public‑sector environment.
  • Preferred experience in a Pre‑K‑12 school district.
  • Expert proficiency with a major CMS (Finalsite, WordPress, Drupal, Joomla, Apptegy, etc.).
  • Solid understanding of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and web graphic design principles.
  • Demonstrated experience with web accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1 AA).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational, project management, and time‑management skills.
  • Experience with graphic design tools (Adobe Creative Suite).
  • Experience developing and implementing content strategies aligned with organizational goals.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a collaborative workplace.
  • Support the Communications unit in team‑related projects and activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Ability to safely perform essential job functions in accordance with ADA, FMLA, and other standards.
  • Maintain regular, punctual attendance.
