Job summary

Gfoat is hiring for a dynamic webmaster to lead our city websites and intranet. You will manage design, copywriting, CMS updates, and ensure pages reflect the city’s goals and branding.

This onsite role in Grand Prairie, Texas requires occasional after-hours work and collaboration with multiple departments to deliver accessible, SEO‑driven online experiences. You will train liaisons, develop content, monitor analytics, and implement best practices for security, performance, and compliance.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of web analytics and SEO.
  • Familiarity with web standards.
  • AP Style.
  • Understanding of federal ADA compliance standards.
  • Working knowledge of website management tools.
  • Proficient in HTML, CSS, and Javascript; knowledge of SQL, XML is a plus.

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to generate creative ideas, apply attractive design solutions, and write engaging content.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Strategic Communications or related IT field is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • The webmaster serves as the primary contact for all aspects of the organization’s websites and intranet, handling responsibilities that encompass web design, development, routine site and content maintenance, and various updates to keep the sites aligned with the organization’s goals and objectives.
  • Manages the city’s websites, intranet, and ancillary sites, including design, copywriting, editing within the content management system, and enhancing the CRM with original code as needed.
  • Collaborates with Information Technology as needed for technical support and with all city departments to develop pages that meet their needs.
  • Ensures the functionality, security, and efficiency of web infrastructure while optimizing loading speeds, fixing issues, and updating website content.
  • Builds, maintains, and troubleshoots websites, tests compatibility across different platforms, and monitors online traffic and performance.
  • Configures and manages web servers, implements security measures, and reviews search engine optimization (SEO) to enhance website visibility.
  • Addresses user edits, updates, and complaints, and collaborates with team members to resolve issues.
  • Develops and maintains policy formation and amendments related to web operations.
  • Provides routine web and goal updates to management and leadership.
  • Maintains the City App and ensures its functionality and accessibility.
  • Maintains current knowledge of best practices and emerging developments in web design, development, accessibility and compliance, and technology to deliver functional and user‑friendly websites.
  • Develops web design standards and practices and ensures they are followed and maintained.
  • Assists employees with the use of the company website through one‑on‑one support, user guides, and training sessions.
  • Collects and analyzes web analytics and similar data; identifies opportunities to improve SEO, time on site, web traffic, and other relevant metrics.
  • Develops and maintains forms as needed for applications, submittals, and reservations.
  • Enhances the user experience by creating user‑friendly, visually appealing, and secure sites.
  • Maintains a strong focus on detail, effective communication, creativity, and analytical thinking.
  • Possesses a strong technical and copywriting background to guarantee the seamless functionality and efficiency of the website infrastructure.

Job description

Join our dynamic Communications and Marketing team to create an excellent interactive experience for our customers and employees. We are looking for a creative, tech‑savvy individual with web and creative copywriting skills who enjoys executing projects from beginning to end and presenting innovative approaches.

This position works with all city departments to manage the development, maintenance and oversight of the city websites and intranet, and ensure sites are managed with best‑practice marketing principles. This is an onsite position that requires occasional work outside of normal work hours.

Other job duties include providing training for website liaisons and assisting with writing engaging website content.

  • BSc/BA in Strategic Communications, Computer Science, Design, or a related field is preferred.
  • Works closely with the Communications Team during a crisis to create, coordinate, and disseminate appropriate information promptly, which may require work after hours.
  • Writes engaging web articles using proper grammar and AP style to communicate city services and unique stories.
  • Designs marketing material for department webpages as needed.
Minimum Qualifications

Education: Candidate should have a bachelor’s degree acquired through four years of college in Strategic Communications or a related Information Technology field such as web design or programming.

Experience: Minimum one year serving as the primary webmaster for a public entity or private organization.

Valid Driver’s License required.

Regular and consistent attendance and punctuality for the assigned work hours are essential.
