Job summary

Pape-Dawson Engineers is seeking an EIT-certified engineer to join the Houston District Services group. You will assist in planning, design, and delivery of municipal district facilities, coordinating with multi-disciplinary teams and clients.

The role blends office work with periodic site visits, aiming to support capital improvement planning and regulatory compliance. The position requires a BS in Civil Engineering (ABET-accredited) and at least 2 years of progressive engineering experience,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field from an ABET-accredited program.
• Minimum of 2 years of professional engineering experience performing progressively responsible engineering work.
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT/EI) certification.
• Working knowledge of engineering principles, design standards, and applicable codes and regulations relevant to assigned service areas.
• Ability to apply established engineering practices and exercise sound judgment on moderately complex assignments.
• Proficiency with relevant engineering software and tools.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, clients, and external agencies.
• Ability to manage assigned tasks, meet deadlines, and work under general supervision.
• Willingness to work primarily in an office environment with periodic field work, site visits, meetings, or agency coordination as required.
• Ability to work Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm with overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

• Prepare construction plans and technical documents for district/public infrastructure projects.
• Perform design calculations and develop supporting technical documentation.
• Review and verify plans, specifications, and estimates (PS&E) packages.
• Coordinate technical aspects of projects with internal teams, subconsultants, and stakeholders.
• Support meetings with clients, regulatory agencies, and project stakeholders.
• Assist with permitting documentation and service area-specific quality requirements.
• Perform engineering planning, design, and analysis tasks per codes and regulations.
• Prepare engineering calculations and deliverables with documented assumptions and design decisions.
• Evaluate and compare design alternatives and recommend solutions.
• Coordinate with project managers and multidisciplinary teams to support delivery.
• Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and designers.
• Participate in quality control and quality assurance practices.
• Manage assigned tasks independently and meet deadlines.
