Job summary

Univar Solutions USA LLC in the United States is seeking a District Transportation Manager to lead private fleet and carrier operations across multiple locations, managing a ~$7 million P&L to ensure cost efficiency and regulatory compliance.

The DTM collaborates with commercial and operations leadership to optimize routes, negotiate carrier rates, and drive capacity planning. This role requires 75% travel and can be based out of Fairfield, Visalia, Fresno, Pittsburg, or Redwood City, CA.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, required – Bachelor’s degree/MBA strongly preferred.
• 3–5 years of logistics/supply-chain experience.
• Experience in HAZMAT and tanker operations desired.
• Multi-modal transportation experience including TL and LTL; knowledge of regulatory and operational issues.
• Multi-year experience leading private fleets with demonstrated efficiency.
• Budgeting (P&L) experience.
• In-depth SAP and SAPTM system knowledge.
• Knowledge of DOT rules and regulations.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; strong interpersonal skills.
• Proven ability to influence across regions and vendors.
• Ability to lead process and organizational change; engage and articulate supply chain concepts.

Responsibilities

• Directly responsible for maintaining an efficient, cost-advantaged private fleet across multiple locations.
• Develop and lead execution of route plans to reduce regional CPM on private fleets.
• Manage mode mix and carrier relationships; optimize lane sourcing between Private, Common, and dedicated fleets.
• Negotiate truckload rates with common carriers; drive cost-saving projects and ensure on-time delivery.
• Collaborate with operations and commercial leaders to define capacity needs for near, short-, and long-term horizons.
• Ensure contractor execution meets customer requirements; coordinate with regional DTMs and procurement for capacity.
• Provide guidance to branch operations on private fleet utilization; support capital replacement plans.
• Deliver annual operating plan and cost-savings objectives; manage SPOT rate transactions.
