Primary Purpose:
Provide advanced on-site and remote technical support, system maintenance, and user assistance across all district campuses and facilities. Serve as an escalation point for Tier 1 support, work collaboratively within the technology team to align IT solutions with educational goals, and maintain physical and digital infrastructure including computing devices, network printing environments, and door access control systems.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field preferred.
- Industry certifications preferred (e.g., CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, or Microsoft Certified Professional).
- Clear and valid driver's license.
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Advanced knowledge of workstation setup, operating systems (Windows, macOS, ChromeOS), and educational software platforms.
- Strong technical troubleshooting skills for hardware, software, network connectivity, peripherals, and interactive classroom displays.
- Specialized knowledge in installing, configuring, and troubleshooting network printing systems and print management software.
- Experience with or ability to learn physical security infrastructure, specifically badge readers and door access control systems.
- Understanding of educational technology workflows and a customer-service mindset focused on minimizing instructional downtime.
- Ability to work effectively within a collaborative team structure, mentor entry-level technicians, and maintain clear documentation.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Experience:
- 3+ years of successful work experience in technical support, desktop support, or systems administration, preferably in a K–12 public education environment.
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Advanced Technical & Classroom Support
- Perform advanced installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of computers, laptops, Chromebooks, interactive displays, and instructional software across all district facilities.
- Serve as an escalation tier for complex tickets, resolving hardware, operating system, and software issues that exceed Tier 1 scope.
- Work collaboratively with the Executive Director, Network Administrator, and Instructional Technologists to support district-wide instructional technology initiatives.
- Assist with user account rostering, single sign-on (SSO) integration, and identity management systems (e.g., ClassLink, Ascender).
Specialized Systems (Printing & Access Control)
- Deploy, configure, and maintain local and network-attached printers, multi-function devices, print servers, and print management software.
- Assist in the installation, troubleshooting, maintenance, and door-level hardware support for campus badge readers, electronic door locks, and physical access control systems.
- Coordinate with third-party vendors and contractors for specialized repairs or installations regarding printing hardware, access control systems, and structural cabling.
Network, Hardware & Preventative Maintenance
- Diagnose and resolve local network connectivity issues (wired and wireless), data drops, and peripheral communication errors.
- Service equipment according to established preventive maintenance schedules; perform hardware upgrades, component replacements, and data migrations.
- Assist in maintaining accurate technology hardware inventory, spare parts stock, and asset tracking data across assigned sites.
Team Operations & Documentation
- Maintain detailed notes, resolution steps, and time logs within the district ticketing system.
- Create, update, and maintain internal technical documentation, knowledge base articles, and standard operating procedures to increase team efficiency.
- Provide informal guidance, training, and operational support to entry-level technicians and campus staff.
Other
- Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents as required.
- Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy.
- Comply with all district and campus routines and regulations.
- Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- Respond to after-hours emergency network, building access, or critical system issues as needed.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- None formally; provides technical guidance, work order direction, and task lead oversight for Tech Aides.
