Job summary

Salem Public Schools is seeking ONE experienced and dedicated educator at each elementary school to serve as a new teacher mentor. In partnership with coaches and the building leader, mentors will support first-year teachers with welcoming classrooms and access to instruction for all learners.

The $1,500 stipend covers biweekly meetings and logging these sessions in the Mentor module. Mentors attend district meetings and report to the Executive Director of Academics and the building principal.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; master’s degree preferred.
• Massachusetts educator certification required.
• SEI endorsement required.
• Three years of experience under initial or professional license.

Responsibilities

• Maintain professional respect and confidentiality around mentoring.
• Meet mentees biweekly, individually or in groups.
• Support through active listening and sharing experiences.
• Help beginning teachers develop self-reflection habits.
• Assist with reviewing student data and evaluating progress.
• Support teachers with the district's SIS and reporting needs.
• Document ongoing mentoring using the online form.
