Job summary

Papillion La Vista Community Schools is seeking a Classified Specialist - Systems Engineer in Technology. The position is full-time, 260 days per year, 8:00am–4:00pm, Monday–Friday, with some after-hours work required.

This is an in-person, non-remote role in Papillion, Nebraska. The Systems Engineer will design, administer, secure, and maintain the district’s server environment, cloud platforms, directory services, and device management.

Qualifications

• Degree and/or related experience in a technical field.
• Industry certifications in Microsoft/Windows Server, VMware, Google Workspace or AWS/Azure preferred.
• Related experience in server administration (physical and virtual), identity management, Active Directory, software distribution, and cybersecurity.
• Advanced scripting skills (PowerShell, Python, etc.) for automated system administration; strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Systems, Server & Endpoint Management: server administration, maintenance, and OS/hardware upgrades across physical and virtual environments.
• Identity management and SSO environments for all district users; Active Directory/Google Workspace integration.
• Manage employee and student account lifecycles with Technology, Business, Curriculum, and HR.
• Configure infrastructure for security systems, CCTV, video storage, and door access; authentication platforms.
• Package, test, and distribute software via district device management; OS upgrades and patch schedules.
• Oversee email, web filtering, SPAM protection, malware protection, and server security policies.
• Collaboration with Network Engineer on upgrades, backups, and integrations across the district network.
• Backup and disaster recovery planning; test and document data protection procedures.
• Capacity planning: evaluate server storage, VM allocation, and cloud usage.
• Helpdesk ticket routing, monitoring, and operational support.
• Recommend improvements for resource utilization and reliability; occasional night/weekend maintenance.
