Job summary

Gladewater ISD is seeking a Coordinator of Safety and Security for the 2026-2027 school year. You will lead the districtwide safety program, oversee emergency management and training, and coordinate drills across campuses to ensure readiness.

Responsibilities include policy compliance, communication with stakeholders, and serving as a liaison to law enforcement and emergency responders. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of emergency operations planning.
• Knowledge of NIMS, ICS, and FEMA procedures.
• Knowledge of health and school safety programs and applicable laws.
• Strong public information, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of local, state, and federal response procedures.
• Ability to work within the county emergency operations center as applicable.

Responsibilities

• Lead development, planning, and implementation of the districtwide safety and security program.
• Oversee emergency management, NIMS, and ICS training of administrators, staff, and volunteers.
• Develop and provide guidance for drills across campuses and facilities to ensure readiness.
• Plan agendas and chair the school safety and security committee; staff the Emergency Operations Center.
• Oversee annual review of the district emergency management plan and recommend improvements.
• Inform campus leaders about preparedness status and weather-related contingencies.
• Assess technologies for emergency response and messaging speed; analyze delays.
• Act as district liaison with law enforcement, fire, and emergency management officials.
• May oversee the school marshal program and liaise with the school resource officer program.
• May serve on district threat assessment and safe schools teams.
