Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a District Manager to oversee P&L for the district, drive sales growth, and ensure excellent customer service across stores. The role requires leading store operations, merchandising, scheduling, and development of Store Managers while protecting assets and implementing company policies.

Travel within the district is required, with a fast-paced environment and emphasis on leadership and collaboration to meet company targets.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated record of achieving performance goals and objectives.
• Proficient financial analysis skills to interpret operating statements and other financial reporting data, manage budgets, and control inventory.
• Demonstrated ability to produce desired results by leveraging resources, maintaining tough expense control, managing merchandise effectively, and defining and communicating clear expectations.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment while demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.
• Demonstrated interpersonal and leadership skills including a willingness to consistently provide superior customer service, the ability to react appropriately under pressure, and the ability to apply good judgment in ambiguous situations.

Responsibilities

• The District Manager is responsible for the profit and loss of the assigned district, while acting within the scope of Company objectives and policies to accomplish goals.
• Oversee/Ensure a culture that fosters Dollar General’s brand.
• Ensure consistent administration of human resources policies & practices.
• Provide exceptional customer service through the development of fun and friendly stores.
• Aim for annual sales growth that meets or exceeds Company targets through strong operations and efficient flow processes.
• Maintain superior visual merchandising presentation, product management and signing/pricing execution in each store.
• Plan and execute Company objectives effectively.
• Maximize performance & productivity through Store Managers’ commitment to sensible store scheduling.
• Develop Store Managers through proactive recruitment, selection and training of team members.
• Protect Company assets through loss prevention and expense efficiencies.
• Identify and develop new business opportunities within operational areas (distribution flow improvements, merchandising display, store growth, real estate site selection, recruiting strategy, training and development priorities, employee relations, customer experience, systems implementation).
• Communicate Company priorities to store teams consistently and effectively.
• Train and develop to create strong visual merchandising presentations and product placements.
• Utilize technology to train and develop strong communication avenues to keep teams informed of operational tasks.
• Develop Store Managers to ensure consistent execution of Dollar General expectations for clean and organized stores.
• Implement inclusive and ongoing Company recognition programs that foster a fun and rewarding environment for team members.
