Job summary

NYC Public Schools is seeking a District Planning Analyst to translate complex educational data into actionable insights, shaping district and borough level planning with a focus on zoning, school utilization, and program sitings.

You will collaborate with the Director of District Planning and cross-functional teams, develop dashboards, support stakeholder engagements, and prepare data-driven proposals in compliance with Chancellor’s Regulations A-190 and A-185 and state class size laws.

Qualifications

• Doctorate degree in physical, biological, environmental or social science with at least one year of supervisory/administrative/research experience.
• Master's degree in the relevant field with three years of full-time research experience.
• Educational/experience equivalencies with master's degree and two years of described experience; two years as City Research Scientist I can substitute for some requirements.

Responsibilities

• Translate complex datasets into actionable strategic insights for district planning.
• Design data tools and dashboards to support school utilization and zoning proposals under Chancellor’s Regulations A-190 and A-185 and state class size law mandates.
• Support engagements with stakeholders, including community meetings and CEC presentations, to inform policy recommendations.
• Collaborate with District Planning Team and cross-functional groups to align analytical tools with agency priorities.
• Provide training and technical support to internal users of developed data tools.
