Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and 1 year of payroll records/financial accounts experience.
• Associate’s degree and 3 years of payroll or financial records experience.
• High school diploma or equivalency with 5 years of payroll/financial records experience.
• Equivalent combination of training/experience per criteria A–C.
• Broome County Civil Service Exam required.

Responsibilities

• Process and maintain employee payroll records (salaries, deductions, changes).
• Process bi-weekly payrolls; coordinate across departments and account coding.
• Review payroll calculation sheets for accuracy and consistency.
• Prepare monthly retirement system reports, IRS and NYS filings, ACA, W-2 reporting, and related reports.
• Assist in preparing pay calendars, schedules, and pay frequencies with school districts.
• Implement payroll processing updates and regulatory reporting changes.
• Prepare workers' compensation filings and related documents.
• Perform payroll reconciliation with General Ledger and encumbrances.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and reporting.
• Liaise with school district personnel, government agencies, retirement systems, banks, and others.
