Job summary

Lake Local School District is seeking a Payroll Specialist responsible for accurate and timely processing of all district payrolls. You will maintain employee records, handle deductions and benefits, and ensure compliance with regulations and collective bargaining agreements.

Reporting to the Treasurer, this full-time role collaborates with Human Resources and the Treasurer’s Office to manage STRS/SERS contributions and year-end reporting while safeguarding sensitive information in a fast-paced

Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Experience with payroll processing, accounting/bookkeeping, data entry, and payroll software usage.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to meet deadlines in a high-volume environment.

Responsibilities

• Process biweekly district payrolls per policies and regulations.
• Maintain payroll records: pay rates, deductions, benefits, and leave balances.
• Verify and reconcile payroll data including timesheets and contracts.
• Prepare and submit payroll reports to state/federal agencies and retirement systems.
• Ensure accurate payment of benefits and deductions; reconcile with general ledger.
• Assist with monthly/year-end closing and audits; maintain confidentiality.
• Coordinate with HR on hires/terminations and status changes.
• Prepare annual tax forms (W-2s) and year-end payroll reporting.
