  • Conduct site audits and promptly resolve issues in the district.
  • Train and develop store teams, maintaining a fair, respectful work environment.
  • Develop and retain direct reports across sites to fill critical roles internal to the company.
  • Coach poor performance and terminations in partnership with HR and operations management.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Job Description:

District Manager and key company representative to our customers in a goods and services oriented business.

Job Purpose:

The District Manager is responsible for driving top line sales and bottom line profit within each of their stores; achieving all company objectives and leading and inspiring a high performance team. The District Manager will support and over see multiple sites and manage resources efficiently to drive business and maximize productivity meeting all standards of execution for customer service, signage and pricing, and merchandising. The District Manager is also responsible for maintaining a high level of engagement and a people development culture, since the success of the business is tied to the quality and performance of the team. Promote and abide by the high standards of the company, and maintain regulatory and company compliances while upholding the highest standards of safety.

Director of Retail Store Operations

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead, develop and enhance the customer experience in our stores by fostering and maintaining a friendly positive attitude in the General Managers and employees and drive store sales with hands on style leadership.
  • Ensure all the stores in your district deliver a positive and friendly experience to our customers.
  • Maintain the highest standards of cleanliness and serviceability in all the stores you manage.
  • Create an environment for an outstanding customer experience in all the stores you manage.
  • Demonstrate leadership, foster teamwork, show initiative and excitement for all store promotions and merchandising standards to facilitate sales growth in your stores. Set the example for your store teams.
  • Ensure that each of the stores you manage, consistently adheres to walk the store compliance standards.
  • Enhance and maintain good positive communication with customers, the Operations Manager, General Managers, your team of employees and vendors to enhance the overall performance and profitability of your store’s teams and to continue to grow our customer base and foster our current relationships with customers and vendors.
  • Conduct Site Audits and identify and resolve site issues and problems in your district in a timely and positive manner.
  • Be responsible and proactive in the managing and training of your teams. Clearly explain assigned tasks, duties and responsibilities to your team members. Demonstrate an exceptional work ethic, treat all customers and employees with dignity and respect and maintain a fair, honest, friendly and positive work environment for all in your stores.
  • Develops and retains direct reports at each of your sites, ensuring their readiness for increased responsibilities and providing a bench of internal talent who are upwardly mobile to fill critical positions.
  • Manages & coaches poor performance and terminations appropriately, in partnership with the Operations Director and Human Resources, to improve overall productivity and performance of the team.
  • Perform any other duties that are assigned by management.
Skills/Qualifications:
  • Bachelors Degree in business or related field preferred Proven and consistent leadership and performance in a multi-store leadership position.
  • Have a passion for customer service while utilizing exceptional people skills and have a desire to excel in everything you do.
  • Minimum 3 years of previous experience in leading multiple locations in retail or convenience store industry strongly preferred.
  • Flexible hours including evenings and weekends required. Ability to travel throughout Chicagoland area.
  • Knowledge of financial management and computer literacy in computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel. Ability to multi-task and have a good sense of time management.
  • Maintain a disciplined approach to managing, training and developing your store teams. Uphold company standards in personal appearance, store cleanliness and customer service. Manages poor performance and terminations appropriately, in partnership with the Human Resource Manager, and operations manager.
