Job description

Our Opportunity:

Chewy Vet Care is seeking a District HRBP (CVC) with experience in retail, fulfillment, and/or distribution to support veterinary practice operations. The District HRBP (CVC) will report to the AD, Regional HRBP, and focus on driving engagement, leadership development, and performance management across a district of veterinary practices. This role involves setting high standards to improve engagement, retention, and fostering a positive culture. The District HRBP acts as a consultant on HR issues, champions teams, and collaborates across HR functions to provide valuable services aligned with organizational strategies.

What you'll do:

  1. Provide strategic HR support to Chewy Vet Care practices within an MSA.
  2. Collaborate with the CVC HRBP team to develop and implement HR strategies supporting business objectives.
  3. Serve as a strategic partner to the district team, offering guidance on people and engagement metrics, workforce planning, leadership development, site visits, and Voice of the Practice routines.
  4. Engage Practice Managers to understand talent needs and define people strategies.
  5. Partner with Talent Acquisition to build candidate pipelines and support interview processes for new practice launches.
  6. Communicate policies, upcoming changes, and initiatives with Practice Managers.
  7. Participate in employee relations, facilitate communication, and assist with investigations.
  8. Identify gaps and implement necessary changes to mitigate risks.
  9. Support talent reviews, organizational planning, and drive results aligned with KPIs.
  10. Ensure compliance with federal and state employment laws and reporting requirements.
  11. Operate autonomously, building strong relationships with district leadership.
  12. Support and adapt to local practice shifts and staffing ramp-ups, especially during new business launches.
  13. Work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, or holidays as needed.
  14. Drive consistent strategies for new practice launches and support launch plans within the district.
  15. Develop and perform standard HRBP work as directed by leadership.
  16. Travel up to 75% as needed.

What you'll need:

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, business, or related field.
  • 5+ years of progressive HRBP experience in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication, observational, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to influence and lead change across organizations, aligning HR strategies with business goals.
  • Success in implementing programs related to performance management, culture, engagement, and retention.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • HR certification is a plus.
  • Experience in retail, distribution, fulfillment, or manufacturing environments with a proven track record.
  • Experience managing HR teams.
  • HR experience supporting 250+ hourly team members.
