Job summary

Kroger Family of Companies is seeking an HR Generalist in Michigan to drive sourcing, recruiting, selection and onboarding for store roles. You will interview candidates, extend offers, and coordinate pre-screening tests and background checks while upholding confidentiality.

You will partner with store leadership to implement HR processes, provide counsel on associate issues, and coordinate training and development initiatives. Travel to stores is required.

Qualifications

• 2+ years HR or retail department management experience.
• Knowledge of HR processes and employment laws.
• Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
• Ability to build and maintain cooperative business partnerships.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience with external recruiting sites and resume databases.

Responsibilities

• Conduct interviews, make hiring decisions, manage the offer process and pre-screening tests/background checks.
• Drive sourcing, recruiting and onboarding for store positions and ensure proper onboarding training.
• Assist HR in associate investigations.
• Lead store leadership in HR processes to promote engagement and retention.
• Counsel management on associate issues (leaves, workers' comp, PTO, policies).
• Coordinate training programs including new-hire orientation and leader development.
• Be SME for HRIS, policies and processes; respond to inquiries with urgency.
• Conduct exit interviews to identify retention trends.
• Support requisitions and onboarding processes (background checks, drug screen, I-9).
• Ensure data submissions are complete and resolve discrepancies.
• Handle record requests and data collection for process improvements.
• Comply with labor laws and food/beverage regulations.
• Process data entries for wages, status changes, terminations, transfers, accruals.
• Travel to store locations to support HR initiatives.
• Perform essential job functions with/without accommodation.
