Job summary

Wachusett Regional School District in Massachusetts seeks a Human Resources Manager to oversee leaves, payroll alignment, onboarding, and compliance for district staff. You will manage confidential personnel files and collaborate with the Payroll team and HR systems.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in HR or related field, strong communication, and prior municipal or school district HR experience. This is a full‑time, 12‑month position at Central Office in Jefferson.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in HR/Business or equivalent.
• Experience in HR for municipalities, school districts, or union environments.
• Strong attention to detail and effective communication.
• Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and maintain confidentiality.
• Experience with Munis, PowerSchool, Google Workspace, and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Serve as district subject matter expert for leaves of absence; manage end-to-end processing and return-to-work protocols.
• Partner with Payroll to align HR records with payroll processing and salary actions.
• Direct new hire onboarding and oversee exit and offboarding processes.
• Ensure compliance with state/federal regulations and district policies; oversee background checks.
• Oversee enrollment in retirement systems and manage unemployment claims.
• Compile and submit external/internal survey requests; maintain HR databases (PowerSchool/Munis).
• Be a responsive point of contact for employee inquiries with confidential handling of records.
• Assist Director with labor relations, policy development, and district initiatives.
• Provide leadership across HR functions and perform other duties as assigned.
