Job summary

The Soil and Water Conservation Program (SWCP) within the State of Missouri is hiring for a district liaison based at the Northeast Regional Office in Macon. The position involves reviewing contracts, guiding district staff, and ensuring policy compliance with state statutes.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise practical application of state statutes, rules, and policies affecting districts.
  • Perform compliance reviews of cost-share practices for assigned districts.
  • Provide training to district employees on operations, tracking and cost share administration.
  • Develop understanding of Missouri soil and water conservation rules and policies.
  • Represent the program at meetings, trainings, and educational events.

The salary range listed in this job description is a base salary. Applicants eligible for years-of-service adjustments or shift differentials may exceed salary range listed above.

This position is with the Soil and Water Conservation Program (SWCP) and will be located at MoDNR Northeast Regional Office, 1709 Prospect Drive, Macon, MO 63552. Extensive day trip travel and infrequent overnight stays required.

  • Review cost-share contracts to ensure that Soil and Water Districts Commission policies are being met. Contracts are submitted through the online Missouri Soil and Water Information Management System (MoSWIMS) program.
  • Attend soil and water conservation district board meetings to provide guidance to district
  • supervisors in the practical application of state statutes, commission rules, policies, and procedures relating to requirements which affect the soil and water conservation districts.
  • Perform compliance reviews of randomly selected cost-share practices for each assigned district.
  • Provide training to district employees and supervisors on a variety of topics including district operations, financial tracking, cost share administration and more.
  • Develop a general understanding of the rules, regulations, and policies that affect soil and water conservation in Missouri.
  • Represent the program at a variety of meetings, trainings, and educational events.

Equivalent To Those Typically Gained By
  • Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Natural Resource Management or related field.
  • Conservation agriculture, conservation planning, or ag land management experience may be substituted for a degree.
  • Experience with GIS preferred.
