Job summary

Virginia Department of Transportation seeks a senior program/engineering leader to guide construction inspection teams, oversee contract construction in a geographic region, and ensure safety, quality, schedule and budget adherence on district projects.

The role provides technical guidance, strategic management, and coordination with FHWA and other agencies, while developing staff and improving processes within the district engineering section.

Qualifications

• Degree in Construction Engineering or related field required.
• Valid Professional Engineer's license required.
• Experience in transportation engineering and construction management preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise construction inspection staff and managers.
• Oversee contract construction activities within a geographic region.
• Develop budgets and ensure expenditures stay within allocations.
• Provide technical guidance and direction to staff.
• Plan, organize and monitor project activities.
