Job summary

Montgomery Public Schools is seeking a District English Second Language Family Liaison and Interpreter to support multilingual learners and their families across the district. This role ensures effective communication, compliance with federal and state requirements, and equitable instructional support in partnership with schools.

Reporting to the ESL Education Specialist, the liaison conducts interpretation during conferences, enrollment, events, and workshops, maintains FERPA confidentiality,

Qualifications

• Associates degree or higher from an accredited institution in education, interpretation, linguistics, or a related field.
• Proficiency in English and at least one other language (Spanish preferred; additional languages beneficial).
• Three years of experience working with English Learners, bilingual education, or interpretation services.
• Strong knowledge of Title III, ESSA requirements, and Alabama ESL regulations.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate communication between school staff and families with interpretation and translation support.
• Provide accurate, confidential interpretation services during parent-teacher conferences and other district meetings.
• Support enrollment and registration activities and school events.
• Maintain confidentiality under FERPA and submit documentation of services provided.
