Job summary

Polk County Public Schools seeks a District Based Coach to deliver teacher-to-teacher professional learning and coaching. The role focuses on mathematics, literacy, or science, to improve instructional practices and student achievement across a district region.

The candidate will analyze data, plan instruction, and provide modeling, feedback, and PD to teachers. Requires a Florida Professional Certificate and relevant content expertise.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
• Florida Professional Certificate required and fully qualified in designated content area.
• 3–5 years of highly effective classroom teaching experience; VAM score evidence preferred.
• Reading endorsement/certification for assigned content area (elem/mid/high as applicable).
• Starting in 2021-2022, literacy coaches must be rated highly effective.

Responsibilities

• Coach teachers through data analysis, planning, and instruction to improve student outcomes.
• Model, mentor, and provide feedback to teachers to strengthen content delivery.
• Develop and deliver school-based professional development aligned to student needs.
• Support district PD initiatives and build school capacity for ongoing improvement.
• Lead professional learning communities and facilitate collaborative work.
