Job summary

The State of South Carolina is seeking an Regional Information Consultant (IRC) Manager for District 4 and District 5. This role oversees deployment, maintenance, and support of IT devices and services across multiple counties, ensuring timely and policy-compliant operations.

Responsibilities include supervising IRC staff, coordinating with SOC and DEAs to meet IT needs, and conducting interviews and performance evaluations. Travel within the region is required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a related field.
  • Minimum 3.5 years in automated information or communications systems.
  • Valid motor vehicle operator's license required.

Job Responsibilities

Serves as the Regional Information Consultant (IRC) Manager for District 4 and District 5. This area covers Cherokee, Chester, Chesterfield, Darlington, Dillon, Fairfield, Florence, Georgetown, Horry, Lancaster, Marion, Marlboro, Union, Williamsburg, and York counties. Manages the deployment, maintenance, and support of SCDOT Information Technology devices, including desktops, laptops, tablets, printers, and telephone systems and services (including cellular).

Supervises IRC subordinates, to include training, scheduling, and prioritizing their daily work. Ensures that all work schedules, installations, repairs, upgrades, etc. are done in a timely and orderly manner. Also ensures work is performed according to SCDOT policy and procedures while minimizing delays for IT end users. Supervises installation, maintenance, and support of all computers, printers, tablets, and other IT equipment across and throughout assigned region. Enforces policies and procedures for inventory control of all IT equipment and purchases. Supervises surplus of equipment in accordance with SCDOT and state policies. Manages regional area cell phones and assists with all telephone services as needed.

Coordinates with Lead IRC and IT Security Manager to ensure that Security Operations Center (SOC) events are managed according to standards and procedures. Works with DEAs and all lRCs in region to ensure IRC staffing resources are available. Works with District Engineering Administrators (DEAs) and users to develop and determine IT needs and makes recommendations for management. Ensures IT training needs of SCDOT personnel are addressed, and training is scheduled as needed.

Interviews and selects personnel for IRC positions in region. Evaluates employee performance and supervises training for all subordinates. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum And Additional Requirements

A bachelor's degree and three and one-half (3.5) years of experience in automated information or communication system design, installation, operation, repair, or processing of information in a data processing environment or related systems; or an approved acceptable equivalence. A valid motor vehicle operator's license is required.

The physical demands for the essential functions includes sitting or standing at a desk for an extended periods and working on a computer. May be required to lift up to 30 lbs. May be required to work outside normal business hours. Regular travel throughout assigned Region.
