Job summary

FirstEnergy Corp. is seeking a Distribution Standards engineer to provide technical expertise and project support for distribution engineering standards across its footprint.

The role collaborates with Operating Companies, Distribution Planning, IT, and other corporate groups to implement improvements and comply with regulatory commitments. The position may report to corporate offices in several locations and requires travel within the service territory, including potential storm duty.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering/Engineering Technology from ABET accredited program.
• PE license or advanced degree in engineering is preferred.
• Minimum of three years engineering experience required.
• Proficient with MS Office; ability to learn GISView and AutoCAD.
• Strong organizational, analytical and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Create engineering practices, material specifications, field guides, and construction standards for distribution projects.
• Analyze standards and equipment issues and propose design options.
• Review manufacturer drawings for compliance with specifications.
• Coordinate cross-functional work groups to ensure best practices and tool usage.
• Develop training materials with Operations and Workforce Development.
• Document enhancements and implementation plans for Distribution Standards.
• Support status reporting for projects via weekly/monthly calls.
• Assist energy delivery leaders and legal with technical advice and regulatory matters.
• Research industry data to identify best practices and asset-management processes.
