Job summary

FirstEnergy Corp. seeks a Distribution Standards engineer to provide technical expertise across the FirstEnergy footprint, coordinating standards, planning, and IT to meet regulatory commitments.

The role involves leading cross-functional groups and guiding asset management, training, and industry collaboration. You will contribute to technological improvements, engage with industry groups, and support leadership initiatives while traveling across service areas as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering/Engineering Technology from an ABET-accredited program.
• PE license or equivalent engineering degree plus ABET accreditation is acceptable.
• Minimum three years of engineering work experience.
• Proficient with MS Office and able to learn GISView and AutoCAD.
• Technical expertise in FirstEnergy Engineering, Design, Construction, Equipment Standards.
• Strong written and verbal communication and decision-making ability.

Responsibilities

• Create engineering practices, material specifications, field guides, and standards for distribution projects.
• Analyze standards and equipment issues and recommend solutions and design options.
• Review manufacturer drawings for compliance with specifications.
• Coordinate working groups to ensure best practices and available tools are used.
• Work with Operating Company and Training to ensure accurate end-user materials.
• Document proposed enhancements and implementations for Distribution Standards.
• Support storm response processes and various regulatory and leadership needs.
