Job summary

McLane Company, Inc. is seeking an Assistant Distribution Manager to oversee the Distribution/Warehousing Department, ensuring smooth operation and 24-hour coverage.

You will assist with planning, controlling, and directing activities for order selecting, shipping, receiving, and all warehouse operations. You will coordinate training, scheduling, and safety compliance while seeking continuous improvement in efficiency and cost control.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• 3-5 years of experience in outbound/inbound warehousing, preferably in foodservice.
• Experience with mainframe software for record keeping (AS/400 preferred).
• Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word, Access).
• Experience leading a large warehouse staff, hiring, training, and resolving employee relations issues.
• Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedures.
• Accounting/analytics experience with increasing responsibility preferred.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business periodicals and technical procedures.
• Ability to understand financial statements and cost implications; provide cost-effective solutions.
• Strong analytical and communication skills within a team.

Responsibilities

• Oversee training and scheduling for warehouse shifts.
• Coordinate to minimize mistakes and waste in warehouse operations.
• Ensure sanitation rules and OSHA compliance.
• Ensure adequate manpower for shifts and supervise retention of workers.
• Help create and implement procedures for receiving, unloading, storing, and shipping freight.
• Review warehouse layout and slotting to maximize order-pulling and minimize errors.
• Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with Supply Chain.
• Ensure repairs to warehouse equipment are timely and economical.
• Maintain warehouse safety per company and governmental standards.
• Help achieve monthly throughput goals and manage overtime to optimize manpower.
• Monitor warehouse damages to minimize shrink.
• Train and develop warehouse staff to grow within the department.
• Research and develop new warehouse efficiency techniques.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
