Job summary

Southern California Edison is seeking a Distribution Journeyman Lineman to install, maintain, and repair overhead and underground distribution and communication systems in Southern California. You will work with crews to install equipment, splice and test conductors, and operate near energized lines with strict safety practices.

The role emphasizes teamwork, safety, and effective collaboration with apprentices and helpers while performing line work in diverse climates.

Qualifications

• Certified Journeyman Lineman with Journeyman Lineman card.
• Weight under 285 pounds due to safety equipment.
• Valid Class A motor vehicle operator's license.
• Experience working with utility poles (including ascending and descending climbing).

Responsibilities

• Installs, removes, maintains, and repairs overhead and underground distribution and communication systems.
• Installs and removes equipment such as poles, cross arms, towers, enclosures, ducts and piping and electrical apparatus.
• Installs, removes, splices, bonds, terminates, and tests conductor and cable.
• Connects, tests, adjusts, repairs, and maintains electrical equipment.
• Uses precautionary procedures, tools, and safety equipment near energized lines.
• Operates test equipment and cable locators.
• Operates construction vehicles up to 1,200 lbs.
• Collaborates with others, instructs and directs apprentices and helpers.
• Maintains a safety mindset and values safety.
