Job summary

Duke Energy is seeking a Line Apprentice to learn the distribution system operations and support routine construction and maintenance tasks. The role may be filled at Level 3 or Level 4 depending on experience documented on the applicant’s resume.

You must be willing to work varied shifts and be on-call to respond to outages or emergencies. The position requires safety-first behavior, the ability to climb and work around high voltage, and the capacity to relocate within 40 minutes of an assigned

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid Class A CDL license required.
• Experience as a line worker or in distribution is preferred.
• Ability to pass MSAT2/SAT tests.

Responsibilities

• Assist with construction and maintenance of the distribution system.
• Demonstrate understanding of overhead and underground insulation principles.
• Learn day-to-day operations of the distribution system.
• Maintain safety practices to prevent accidents.
• Develop positive working relationships to coordinate activities.
• Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
