Job summary

Duke Energy is hiring Line Apprentices (3 or 4) to learn distribution system operations across multiple centers. The role supports field crews, learns safety procedures, and progresses with on-the-job training to maintain service for customers.

Successful candidates will be available for 24/7 on-call coverage, including nights, weekends, and holidays, and must reside within 40 minutes of an assigned site. A CDL is required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Valid class A CDL is required.
• Experienced climber and able to work on secondary voltage as a lone worker.
• Knowledge of safety practices to prevent accidents and injuries.
• Must have 3+ years distribution line and service experience for Line Apprentice 3.
• Must have 5+ years distribution line and service experience for Line Apprentice 4.

Responsibilities

• Assist with construction and maintenance of the distribution system.
• Demonstrate understanding of overhead and underground insulation principles.
• Familiar with the electrical distribution system via Line and Service Training modules.
• Adhere to safety practices to prevent accidents and injuries.
• Develop positive working relationships to coordinate activities.
• Demonstrate effective oral and written communication.
• Maintain records and files.
• Represent the company professionally.
