Job summary

Duke Energy is seeking a Line Apprentice at the 3 or 4 level to support distribution operations and customer service across multiple centers, including the Durham location. The role requires training in system operations, safety, and job progression with on-call and after-hours responsibilities.

The position offers growth opportunities and a pathway from apprentice to journey-level work, with training that covers both overhead and underground distribution work and strong safety commitments.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Valid class A commercial driver's license (CDL).
• Experience as a climber on distribution lines.
• Experience working on secondary voltage as a lone worker.
• Exposure toMAD of single phase primary voltage.
• 5+ years distribution line and service work (Line Apprentice 4).
• Commitment to safety practices to prevent injuries.

Responsibilities

• Assist with construction and maintenance of the distribution system.
• Demonstrate understanding of overhead and underground insulation principles.
• Learn and understand the electrical distribution system through Line and Service Training modules.
• Adhere to safety practices and promote safety.
• Develop positive working relationships to coordinate work activities.
• Maintain accurate records and files.
• Represent the company positively and professionally.
