Job summary

Georgia Power is seeking a Distribution Engineering Training Engineer to develop, validate, and deliver high‑quality training courses for distribution engineers. You will partner with SMEs, instructional designers, and field leadership to ensure materials reflect current engineering practices and operational needs.

This hands‑on role requires mentoring others, strong communication, and MS Office/PowerPoint skills, with ideal experience in LMS platforms.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering is required; advanced degree a plus.
  • Professional Engineer’s license is a plus.
  • Minimum of 3 years of distribution engineering experience.
  • Experience as an Engineering Certification Program trainer or curriculum developer is a plus.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of the distribution system – design, reliability, maintenance, operations, and construction.
  • Knowledge of Power Delivery equipment including switches, transformers, relays, voltage regulators, automation devices, SCADA, fault data equipment, etc.
  • Knowledge of OSHA, HAZCOM, HR policies related to work practices.
  • General knowledge of Adult Learning Theory and evaluation procedures used to enhance training
  • Strong PowerPoint and MS Office skills; experience with LMS is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a Distribution Engineering technical SME for training.
  • Develop and maintain high-quality training materials, partnering with SMEs and field leadership to ensure alignment with standards.
  • Deliver instructor-led and blended training that is engaging, practical, and safe.
  • Contribute to the development of new courses addressing evolving standards, technologies, and workforce needs.
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, and preparedness of SME instructors.
  • Identify gaps and drive continuous improvement of the training program through feedback and evaluation.
  • Conduct field visits to ensure training materials reflect current work practices.
  • Research, evaluate, and update curriculum with company standards and engineering practices.
  • Partner with the Power Delivery Training team to share resources and maintain program consistency.
  • Ensure training curriculum aligns with Power Delivery Safety initiatives.
