Job summary

Georgia Power seeks a Distribution Engineering training expert to develop, validate, and deliver technical courses for our Power Delivery Engineering team. You will partner with SMEs, instructional designers, and field leadership to ensure content meets current engineering standards and operational needs.

The role is hands-on, mentoring engineers, and shaping how technical knowledge is created and shared across the organization. Strong communication and collaboration are essential for success.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering is required; advanced degree a plus.
  • Professional Engineer’s license is a plus.
  • 3+ years distribution engineering experience required.
  • Experience as an Engineering Certification Program trainer or curriculum developer is a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of distribution system design, reliability, maintenance, operations, and/or construction.
  • Knowledge of Power Delivery equipment including switches, transformers, relay schemes, voltage regulators, automation devices, SCADA, fault data equipment, etc.
  • Knowledge of OSHA/HAZCOM/Human Resources policies & regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a Distribution Engineering SME for training.
  • Develop and maintain high-quality training materials with SMEs and field leadership.
  • Deliver instructor-led and blended training that is engaging and practice-focused.
  • Contribute to new course development addressing evolving standards and technologies.
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, and preparedness of SME instructors.
  • Identify gaps and drive continuous improvement of the training program.
  • Conduct field visits to ensure training reflects current work practices.
  • Update curriculum with changes in company standards and engineering practices.
  • Collaborate with the Power Delivery Training team to ensure program consistency.
  • Align training with Power Delivery Safety initiatives.
  • Support storm restoration efforts as needed.
